

hallway spillageI find it hard to breathe when I get blocked in like this, legs tied up and I’m caught in that place right behind my eyes.hallway spillage
Tonight I speak out quietly - telling of how yesterday, I snagged my skirt
building the wire fence on the rim of my garden,
but the looks from those passing by
still hurdle fast and hard,
creeping boldly over the barricade
and straight into my chest.
'I do not feel like this I do not feel like this'
quickly becomes my mantra, as I shift my thoughts from heavily laid heart beats
that leave dints in my skin


the pile upIt’s Saturday nightthe pile up
and outside I hear a car engine
coughing out its exhausted smoke.
I am much like that car
except I am too far on the inside
and I have a heart,
I think, I wish I didn’t most of the time -- like on lonely evenings when my petrol-thoughts
steer themselves out of control and straight into the wooden floor. Or when hydrocarbon tears escape through pores,
crawling straight down my cheeks shouting ‘man overboard’
as each droplet jumps from my jaw line.
